Straightforward answers to the questions business owners ask about accounting, bookkeeping and working with us.

Which businesses can work with Marugdha?

We support UAE startups, small and medium businesses, growing companies and business owners who need accounting, bookkeeping or tax support. The scope is tailored to your activity, transaction volume, entity structure and reporting requirements.

What is included in monthly bookkeeping?

A typical scope includes transaction recording, bank reconciliation, receivables and payables review, and agreed monthly reports. Payroll, VAT, corporate tax, inventory and historical clean-up can be included according to your engagement.

Can you help if my accounts are behind?

Yes. Catch-up bookkeeping starts with reviewing the periods affected, available bank statements, invoices and existing ledgers. We identify missing information, agree a clean-up plan, reconcile the balances and bring your records up to date.

Do you support UAE VAT and corporate tax?

Yes. Support can include registration assistance, reconciliations, calculations, return preparation and filing support. VAT and corporate tax are separate obligations, and your specific requirements depend on your business and circumstances.

Do free zone companies need accounting support?

Free zone businesses still need organised financial records. Their corporate tax treatment and any audit requirements depend on the applicable rules, their activities and their circumstances. We can help prepare records and coordinate the relevant review.

Do you carry out statutory audits?

Our audit service is preparation and coordination: we organise accounts, schedules and supporting documents and work with your appointed independent auditor. Statutory audit opinions must be issued by an appropriately licensed auditor.

Can you work with my current accounting software?

We begin by reviewing your current platform, file quality and reporting needs. We can then agree whether to continue with the existing system or support a suitable migration. Access permissions and responsibilities are agreed before work begins.

How much do your services cost?

Fees depend on transaction volume, reporting frequency, the condition of your records and the services you need. Email a short description of your business and requirements to receive a tailored scope and quotation.

What should I prepare for the first conversation?

Share your business activity, entity type, financial year-end, accounting software, approximate monthly transaction volume and the support you need. Detailed records can be requested later through an agreed channel.

Can you provide support remotely across the UAE?

Yes. We can coordinate accounting work remotely using agreed document-sharing processes and scheduled discussions. Email info@marugdha.com to discuss the working arrangement that suits your business.

A better month-end starts with these six habits

Month-end is easier when the work is shared across the month. A consistent routine helps you understand the numbers while they are still useful for decisions.

1. Keep source documents together

Save sales invoices, supplier bills, receipts and credit notes in a consistent folder structure. Record the transaction date, supplier or customer and purpose so each entry can be traced back to its evidence.

2. Reconcile every business account

Match bank, credit card and payment gateway balances to the ledger. Investigate unmatched items, duplicated entries, fees and settlement timing differences instead of carrying unexplained balances forward.

3. Review amounts owed to you and by you

Look at customer ageing and supplier balances. Confirm disputed invoices, expected collection dates and upcoming payments so the cash position is understood alongside profit.

4. Check cut-off and recurring adjustments

Review expenses and income around the period-end. Maintain schedules for prepayments, accruals, depreciation, inventory and employee-related balances, where relevant.

5. Connect tax records to the ledger

Reconcile tax control accounts and retain supporting invoices. Flag uncertain treatments for review rather than assuming every transaction follows the same rule.

6. Read the reports before closing

Compare the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow information with prior periods and expectations. Explain unusual movements, document corrections and agree the close before sharing management reports.

A realistic closing calendar gives each task an owner and a completion date. Marugdha can help establish the routine and support the recurring close.

UAE VAT: organise your records before your return

A VAT return should be supported by a clear trail from each transaction to the accounting records. Preparing that trail throughout the period makes the review more manageable.

Start with complete transaction records

Keep sales invoices, supplier invoices, credit notes and relevant import or export documentation together. Check that the business details and tax information are complete and that transactions are recorded in the appropriate period.

Reconcile before you prepare

Compare sales and purchase records with your VAT control accounts. Investigate differences, adjustments and missing documentation. A bank payment alone may not provide the evidence needed for the tax treatment.

Review the treatment, not just the total

Different supplies can have different VAT treatments. Input tax recovery also depends on the applicable conditions. Identify uncertain items and seek a review before including them in a return.

Monitor registration separately

VAT registration depends on the relevant taxable supplies and imports, the assessment period and the business circumstances. Review the current Federal Tax Authority guidance rather than relying on turnover alone.

Corporate tax readiness begins with your books

Corporate tax preparation begins well before the return. Reliable accounting records make it easier to review the business result and understand the adjustments that may be required.

Confirm your registration position

UAE corporate tax registration is separate from VAT registration. Review the registration requirements for your entity and circumstances, and ensure the business details held by the FTA are accurate.

Build a complete financial record

Organise your trial balance, financial statements, bank reconciliations, invoices, asset schedules and supporting agreements. Explain material balances and ensure they can be traced to underlying documents.

Identify items that need review

Keep clear records of related-party transactions, owner balances, financing costs and any items whose tax treatment requires consideration. Accounting profit and taxable income are not automatically the same.

Retain the evidence

The FTA states that corporate tax records and documents should be kept for at least seven years following the end of the relevant tax period. Establish a consistent retention process and check any other requirements that apply to your records.
